Description
The main job of an oil seal is to keep lubricant inside the engine or gearbox and keep dirt, water, and contaminants out, helping maintain proper lubrication and protecting bearings and other internal components. Oil seals are used in multiple locations, such as the crankshaft front and rear, camshaft ends, transmission shafts, and differential pinions — and must be replaced if worn, cracked, or leaking, to prevent oil loss and potential engine or transmission damage.
Examples of Common Audi Oil Seals
-
Front Crankshaft Oil Seal (e.g., 079103051D): Seals the crankshaft at the front of the engine to stop oil escaping around the crank pulley.
-
Shaft Oil Seals (e.g., 068103085E / 068103085A): General shaft seals used in various engine locations for sealing rotating parts.
-
Crankshaft Oil Seal (Aftermarket VAG Seal AV732432): A standard replacement seal compatible with many Audi engines to prevent oil leaks around rotating components.
-
Differential Oil Seal (e.g., 65x83x8 ring): Seals the differential output shafts to prevent gear oil leakage.
