Description
Common OEM Part Numbers (Referenced)
Audi uses several specific OE seal/gasket numbers for the oil cooler assembly depending on engine and model year:
-
06E 117 070 J – Flat gasket between oil cooler and engine block.
-
079 103 121 AD – Round O-ring type seal for some V8 and other engines.
-
Older-style oil cooler seals include 028 117 070 B or 038 117 070 A for earlier models.
What They Do & Why They Matter
The oil cooler assembly seal sits between the oil cooler housing and the engine block (or filter housing) and creates a leak-proof surface where pressurized engine oil flows through the cooler. Over time these seals can harden or deteriorate, leading to oil leaks or loss of pressure. Replacing them with OE or OE-spec parts is key to keeping oil contained and protecting engine components from damage
